When DecentraCare initially launched, they were operating their entire healthcare network using manual spreadsheets. Scaling their clinician onboarding and scheduling processes became an overwhelming challenge. The need for a decentralized healthcare services network had never been more pressing, especially in a post-COVID era where outpatient healthcare providers struggled to meet staffing requirements.
Augusto Digital, a cloud-native software design, development, and support company, partnered with DecentraCare to address their operational challenges. Leveraging their expertise in cloud-native solutions and AWS cloud, Augusto Digital designed a comprehensive digital operations platform tailored to DecentraCare’s unique needs.
Augusto Digital developed a custom application that streamlines the clinician onboarding process. New clinicians interacting with the platform have their nursing credentials authenticated through an API connected to the State of Michigan registry. This process includes a welcome video from Nathan Baar, Founder of DecentraCare, and an introductory interview. On the backend, DecentraCare’s team can efficiently review, question, and approve or decline new clinician applications.
Augusto Digital created a custom scheduling application seamlessly integrated with QuickBooks. This application enables interactive master scheduling, allowing nurses to synchronize their calendars and coordinate assignments. Payment processing is seamlessly integrated, allowing DecentraCare to effectively track time, compensate clinicians, and invoice patients.
Augusto Digital employed a robust technology stack that includes Cognito for user management, Flask for server-side APIs, a PostgreSQL database, and a React frontend. This serverless architecture ensures scalability for DecentraCare without the need for infrastructure or technology changes.

- DecentraCare’s network now comprises over 550 clinicians across the State of Michigan, along with more than 20 referral partners. This expansion has enabled other healthcare entities and community members to access a-la-carte clinical services.
